I'm sure we have all come across a 404 page at some point. A 404 page is the default page when a web viewer goes to the wrong place. In most cases it directs the user back to ground zero (your home page). Not only can a 404 page be very helpful, it is a great oppurtunity for web designers and developers to have a little fun! Lately I have been working with Wordpress quite a bit. For those who do not know, Wordpress is much more than a blogging system. It has evolved into a seriously effective Content Management System. Not only can you blog from the dashboard, but you can also create pages, change content, manage comments, check Google Analytics and so much more. Thanks to the design/development community, Wordpress has an almost endless amount of design and tech support to help you create a beautiful site or blog. Take a look at a few examples.

KidZenith Identity = Tactile Goodness

I posted a few weeks back about this amazing identity project we've been working hard on over here, and today I wanted to share some of the finished pieces of this really vibrant and fun project.

KidZenith is a boutique publishing company dedicated to producing amazing children's books revolving around progressive social issues. Combining the talent of amazing illustrators and writers who have a story to tell, these ladies plan to change the world :)

Using a spin off of primary vibrant colors, we came up with a color palette and carried that through our materials. The business cards are engraved 3/1 and fused together. Emily is a green girl, and Sarah red, so who says they had to compromise on having just one color for the backs, we suggested they did two different colors for the back, and I love it!

Stay tuned for the website we are designing, talk about texture and movement nestled in with some fabulous illustration! We're excited, can you tell?

Scroll Right, Horizontal Websites

For my first website, I remember spending hours getting rid of the horizontal scroll bar and conforming to 1024 by 768 screen resolution. But now horizontal websites have become a very unique and interesting way to display your message to the viewer. Take a look and you will see what I mean.

Paper inspired web design

I decided to upgrade my Firefox web browser today to version 3.6. I am really excited about this new release because in the words of typekit.com, "It represents a significant milestone in the ongoing story of fonts on the web. This marks the first browser to support the emerging Web Open Font Format, or WOFF." This is very exciting for the web in general, but when I opened my update, Firefox did something I was not ready for. It asked me to choose my "persona," which is basically like a skin. It has thousands to choose from — I was classic and went with GreyDay.
