Sidewalks in Rio

One thing that caught my eye wherever I went in Rio was their unique sidewalks.  Each beach town had a sidewalk in different patterns.  It appears that they just took white and black tile and placed it in unusual and varying patterns. 

Even throughout the streets of Rio you could find fish, tulip or flower patters.  What a great way to take something so basic and make it into something so beautiful!

Dale Chihuly

Have you ever walked into a hotel or casino and became mesmerized by a beautiful blown glass sculpture in front of you? Well, it happened to me on three separate occasions at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, the Borgata in Atlantic City, and the Atlantis Hotel on Paradise Island. Being the curious person I am, I decided to research further. Dale Chihuly is the man behind these gorgeous installations. He has spent his life creating beautiful glass masterpieces. With two studios and a hundred glass blowing artists, Dale is now being commissioned by international clients in Dubai, Cancun, and Japan to create massive sculptures. Real Weddings - Jess and Rob

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for winter weddings, but this one just melted it.  Photographed by the AMAZING Alison Conklin and held at the German Society of Philadelphia - Jess and Rob's wedding had it ALL!   The German feast, bride and groom cake topper, flowers and table decor, and the hand crochet shawls by the mother of the bride are just some of the many beautiful touches that made this wedding sought after by many wedding publications.  Pick up a copy of Brides Philadelphia today to get the complete list of vendors and DIY projects.

Who doesn't? Check out this AMAZING cheese themed party styled by our friends Beka and Kimberly of Innove Events featured on Style Me Pretty today.   I love the ranunculus and whole artichokes gracing the table Luck guest this little soirée received an orchard basket filled with cheese, olives, marcona almonds, and baguette.  Looks like I will need to find an excuse to have a party!

The Small Stakes: silkscreen music posters

Our design intern Kate uncovered this lovely collection of silkscreen music posters by Jason Munn. Over 150 of his posters are compiled in a book called The Small Stakes, available for purchase here.

Jason employs some exciting printing methods, including metallic inks and blind embossing. Here are a few samples of the posters in the book:

 

 




 

Fantastic Feltidermy

There is a trend going on in the craft world that I'm just loving. Feltidermy (a critter-friendly take on taxidermy) is such a fun way to pay homage to animals without harming them! A cross between fiber art, beloved stuffed animals, sculpture, and kitsch, one of these darlings would add a playful focal point to a wall.

A New Favorite
