ABC, ITS EASY AS 123!

Knowing six beautiful mom's to be (all due sometime near june/july!) gives me a great reason shop for baby gifts. Lately, I've been thinking of making an ABC collage for babies room decor.  I came across some cute A B C poster's that can be hung in their new baby room.

Stephanie Kao

I recently received a beautiful handmade bowl as a gift from a friend. The ornate detailing and the precise choice of colors makes the bowl its unique characteristics. Stephanie Kao is a Philadelphia native and self-taught illustrator. Stephanie freelances as a calligrapher, henna artist, and events photographer; she is also collaborating on a line of handmade decorative porcelain ware with ceramicist Robert Siegel.

Computer Engineer by Day & Fashion Designer by Night

I have known my best friend Anna for over ten years. During her days she works at a company doing something with computers. What that may be, I still do not exactly know. What I know is that Anna has a hobby that turned into a true talent and inspiration to others. She started by sewing buttons on her clothes and reading up on fashion magazines and books.  When we would get together, she would be wearing shirts and skirts by a designer we could not recognize.

Then one day, she called and said. "I'm getting married". Who knew she would make her bridal shower dress, rehearsal dinner dress and the WEDDING DRESS! Here are a few photos of her handiwork:

Bridal Shower Dress -  made of 100% cotton with a white on white design and underlined with a cotton voile

 

Rehearsal Dinner Dress - made from 100% silk charmeuse, lined in bemberg rayon, with an inseam pocket and silk organza flower

Wedding Dress - Made from ivory silk taffeta underlined with silk organza

Not only is she smart, and a hard worker, but has a God-given talent. She looked absolutely gorgeous with her hand-made dress!

Creative RSVP

Over the weekend, I came across the "Creative RSVPs" from my wedding just about a year ago, before I began working at Two Paperdolls. The RSVP card we included with our invitation asked guests to go beyond just checking off some simple boxes. Looking through them brought back memories from our November 28, 2008 wedding.

Some of our guests really had fun creating their work, as others were confused and thought too much into this simple and fun arts and crafts "assignment" that was given to them. It was fun and exciting, though, to see how creative the non-artists could be and it definitely made things memorable.
