My last 2.5 years here at Two Paperdolls and Louella Press have been a wild journey on which I have learned so much and become a better designer in the process. Today is my last day as a "doll" and I wanted to take the opportunity to say goodbye to my colleagues at the dollhouse, and to you, the readers at Louella Court! I hope my posts have enlightened and entertained you :-) It has been a blast!

One of my favorite celebrity blogs is Perez Hilton. I always hit up his site once or twice a week to get my dose of Hollywood gossip. In my browsing past week I came upon the ultimate piece for your wardrobe designed by Sebastian Errazuriz, and recommended by Perez. They are called Shoe Pants... the perfect combination of Converse and denim.
In Sebastian's words, "I see them as conceptual exercises, which hope to motivate people to look again, question paradigms and establish an unexpected approach to an object or situation. Hopefully by exaggerating the extents of what is possible, we are also questioning our daily reality and creating awareness."

Most people who know me know that I’m first-off a technology geek, and secondly that I love a good serif. While the iPad just came out yesterday and my inner nerd wants to talk about that, I can’t help but yell about a great typeface I discovered. Hoefler & Frere-Jones designed a font called Chronicle that I’m dying to use on a project. They described this font as a “blended Scotch.”
“A vigorous hybrid of time-honored forms and contemporary design strategies, Chronicle Deck & Display is a new suite of headline faces that brings strength and utility to the classic serif.”

I decided to upgrade my Firefox web browser today to version 3.6. I am really excited about this new release because in the words of typekit.com, "It represents a significant milestone in the ongoing story of fonts on the web. This marks the first browser to support the emerging Web Open Font Format, or WOFF." This is very exciting for the web in general, but when I opened my update, Firefox did something I was not ready for. It asked me to choose my "persona," which is basically like a skin. It has thousands to choose from — I was classic and went with GreyDay.

Over the weekend, I came across the "Creative RSVPs" from my wedding just about a year ago, before I began working at Two Paperdolls. The RSVP card we included with our invitation asked guests to go beyond just checking off some simple boxes. Looking through them brought back memories from our November 28, 2008 wedding.
Some of our guests really had fun creating their work, as others were confused and thought too much into this simple and fun arts and crafts "assignment" that was given to them. It was fun and exciting, though, to see how creative the non-artists could be and it definitely made things memorable.

Tugboat Printshop out of Pittsburgh, Pa., is a two-person shop, run by Paul Roden and Valerie Lueth. It is certainly not your everyday shop. Tugboat specializes in precise woodcuts, which are a form of relief printing where the artist carves an image or scene into a block of wood. The attention to detail, the time and patience put into these prints is absolutely incredible. I cannot imagine what these look like in person.

I have been quite interested in this new "green" design trend hitting the scene. The concept of a living wall is popping up in quite a few cities across the country.
I think this is such a great design feature. It is visually appealing as well as completely functional.

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching, and our new Louella Press letterpress cards are sure to satisfy sweethearts everywhere.
Each card is letterpress printed by hand with an antique press, with black and cherry red ink on Speckletone Kraft French Paper. They're blank inside so you have plenty of space to write a love note to your favorite someone!
