A wedding photographer based in Philadelphia captures beautiful moments that stays with us for a lifetime. SmirnovWeddings is always going that extra mile to get the perfect picture. He is open to anything fun and always has these crazy ideas for the bride and groom. I love how his photos create a story, just by looking through them.

We were excited when AIGA Philadelphia asked us to design and letterpress print a postcard to promote the screening of the documentary "Typeface," by Justine Nagan, hosted by Cabrini College and the Bryn Mawr Film Institute. Here is a short summary of the focus of the film, taken from the AIGA Philadelphia website:
Nowadays, contemporary design is very much a digital process. Come and see what life was like when type was made of wood and you could not change the point size with the click of a mouse. This film focuses on the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum and how it is the juncture of modern design and traditional technique. Click here to view the trailer.
Our very own Vanessa Kreckel (owner and creative director of Two Paperdolls) will join Ray Nichols & Jill Cypher from Lead Grafitti and Kseniya Thomas from Thomas-Printers after the film for a panel discussion.

One thing that caught my eye wherever I went in Rio was their unique sidewalks. Each beach town had a sidewalk in different patterns. It appears that they just took white and black tile and placed it in unusual and varying patterns.
Even throughout the streets of Rio you could find fish, tulip or flower patters. What a great way to take something so basic and make it into something so beautiful!

Last night on my walk home from work, I stopped by the opening of a new print show at The Print Center. It was perfect because I pass The Print Center on my walk home each day, and it also started to rain shortly before arriving. So I had a good excuse to stay a while. The current show has work from Philadelphia artist Isaac Tin Wei Lin, printmaker Andrew Kozlowski, and a section entitled "Pulling from History: Letterpress."

Isaac Tin Wei Lin created an amazing 2 and 3-D installation, containing printed and painted work.
Andrew Kozlowski is a printmaker from Virginia. This first picture is just a section of an entire wall of screenprinted cans. There were probably a million. It was pretty impressive. The second picture shows some of his work, which were based on authentic natural experiences.
The first floor was dedicated to letterpress. There was current work from a few printers, including Matt Neff, and also historic examples of prints, and books from various personal collections. It was great to see new work next to historic pieces, such as the picture below. This 5 is a part of a larger piece from a billboard owned by Kyle Van Horn, and the print to the right, I believe is from the Common Press, here in Philly.

Being an in between weather person, (not too hot-not too cold), I find this time of the year exquisitely exciting. September kicks off with the death of summer as the leaves begin to fall & create a backdrop for October. What's there not to love? You've got Halloween, The World Series, Football, bouquets of unsharpened pencils, hot cider, vibrant colors of orange & red bleeding together and that unmistakable smell of the hint of winter lingering around the corner.
This blog represents all the fun things you can do to reconnect with the city and yourself.
Kelly Drive
Try taking a walk with yourself, you'll be surprised what kind of fun shenanigans you come up with. The people watching in itself is enough to get me out of the house. We've got quite the characters in Philly. I personally like to give folks stories as I watch them jog or sit and have a picnic. It's amusing. If you get to Kelly Drive right before the sunsets, you'll have a handful of professional-esque photos that you don't have to pay a bundle for. You also get the satisfaction of taking the shot yourself.
Jefferson Square Park
You can count on this park having events nearly every weekend. From dusk showings of classic films to Flea Markets with gems around every turn. There's also fun projects for kids every Thursday evening! Talk about a walk in the park. There are even Archeological digs!!
The Piazza @ Schmidts
What a great experience for folks of all ages. You've got a concrete park that accommodates with benches and large umbrellas, great for dog walking and mingling. Window shopping has never been so fun. It's a little city within itself. There are cute little bars and B.Y.O.'s at every turn. Boutiques of clothing, music & art literally surrounds you. I recommend this area for reading, writing... I've even busted out my paints & brushes at a sitting here. There seems to be an event going on almost everyday. Whether you wanna watch the Phillies game or an old black & white film. This place offers everything.

With the soft breeze rolling in, you should take this chance to explore a little while the weather still bearable. Sunsets, hoppy beer and some art gazing is all you need to fall in love with the city. Won't you try it?
Excuse the pun here, but I'm so hung up on these hangers! What a sweet gift for a bride-to-be to hang her wedding dress on. This would make for a seriously sweet "before" shot of her wedding day. I found these on Etsy at a shop called lilafrances. This crafty lady donates ten percent of her profits to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund to honor her mother, who encouraged her to develop her creative skills into a career.
While shopping on etsy, I came across these two creative twins that make the cutest hairband and hair pins.
They are all handmade with felt. They would be the cutest gift for a baby shower, for a girlfriend, or just for your self!
