In my search for the perfect flooring I came across a company out of Montreal called Duro-Design. They do all sorts of flooring from bamboo to eucalyptus. I was particularly excited about their choices of cork flooring that is both durable and green! It is made from the bark from living cork trees that are a completely renewable resource.
They have over 54 colors and six different patterns and are the perfect addition to your home, retail space or office.

Many of the dolls at Two Paperdolls have four-legged friends at home. Today I'm lucky enough to have mine sitting under my desk as I write to tell our friends about a new line of greeting cards illustrated and printed right here in our studio. I've been having a blast using one of our fab new wacom intuos 4 tablets!
Each card is letterpress printed by hand on one of our letterpress' on Speckletone Kraft French Paper.
(PS - We love French Paper!) They're blank inside so you have plenty of space to write a note
to let someone know you're thinking about them.
{ A sympathy card with the saddest eyes you've ever seen! }
You can get them in our Etsy shop, at the Two Paperdolls studio in Wayne, or
at Pressed 55 in Northern Liberties.
Special thanks to photographer Brandi Fitzgerald for taking these photos!
I have known my best friend Anna for over ten years. During her days she works at a company doing something with computers. What that may be, I still do not exactly know. What I know is that Anna has a hobby that turned into a true talent and inspiration to others. She started by sewing buttons on her clothes and reading up on fashion magazines and books. When we would get together, she would be wearing shirts and skirts by a designer we could not recognize.
Then one day, she called and said. "I'm getting married". Who knew she would make her bridal shower dress, rehearsal dinner dress and the WEDDING DRESS! Here are a few photos of her handiwork:
Bridal Shower Dress - made of 100% cotton with a white on white design and underlined with a cotton voile
Rehearsal Dinner Dress - made from 100% silk charmeuse, lined in bemberg rayon, with an inseam
pocket and silk organza flower
Wedding Dress - Made from ivory silk taffeta underlined with silk organza
Not only is she smart, and a hard worker, but has a God-given talent. She looked absolutely gorgeous with her hand-made dress!
Check out this fabulous work by past summer intern and ultra fabulous Amanda Jones! Letterpress diva and amazing designer, she's moved on to Michigan, and I couldn't help but repost these!
Today I want to share with you a story about a young couple fighting a disease while trying to prepare for the birth of their child. This is Carissa, expecting to give birth on Earth Day, April 22nd. Her husband Brett has been diagnosed with ALS.
Also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, ALS afflicts as many as 30,000 Americans at any given time, and claims half of it's victims' lives within 5 years.
Carissa, Brett, and their baby are inspiration to check out this fundraiser to spread awareness of ALS.
Please join Tackle ALS Foundation, Inc at our 4th Annual Kickoff Event! This year, we will again be presenting a check to the ALS Hope Foundation for the Tackle ALS Fund. This fund was established to benefit the local Good Sheppard clinic and research by Brett's doctor, Dr. Terry Heiman-Patterson. THP will be on hand at the event to give everyone a brief overview of current research and to explain how the donation made by Tackle ALS will be used to support an ALS drug development project. This innovative drug development program is the first of its kind to explore a very exciting and novel approach as a potential clinical tool in treating ALS. ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, has a growing incident rate that kills 5,000 Americans per year. Currently there is no cure, however, with the proper funding, there is hope on the horizon. Tackle ALS Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to raising these much needed funds by spreading awareness and working with the local centers that fight ALS at the patient level.

Not everyone is a morning person. I am not. However, I have
to admit that often times the bright spot in my morning is a brewing a fresh
cup of coffee and drinking it out of one of my coffee mugs.
Call them cups or mugs, I have no preference, but I will say
that I have a collection of different mugs for whatever the day calls for. No
two are the same—just like no two days are the same. Below is a sneak peak into
my cupboard.
Jim Tierney is a senior at Philadelphia's University of the Arts, studying illustration. For his senior thesis, he chose to design new covers to classic Jules Verne novels. What he created is pretty incredible.
As some of you may may have noticed I have slight obsession with home decor. I am always looking for possible gifts (or who am I kidding additions to my own collections). During our 24 inch snow storm last week I was browsing for a possible baby shower gift when I came across these cute prints and mobiles by illustrator Lorena Siminovich.
I love the vintage appeal these have as well as their strong color palettes. I believe these could be really cute accent pieces to any nursery or kids room.
Let's start with an apology to our readers for the break between posts! The record snow in Philadelphia has thrown us all for a loop and we've been busy making up for the time we spent snowed in!
The following photographs are what Russian-born artist Yulia Brodskaya calls "papergraphics." These lovely and intricate assemblages of curled paper have appeared in work for Starbucks, the New York Times, Martha Stewart Magazine, and Target.
I love the juxstaposition of simplicity and detail that Brodskaya uses in her work. It's amazing that some of these are made from only white paper!
